The Heats — Then and Now

Dominating Seattle's airwaves and packing the top clubs from 1979 to 1983, The Heats reignited a culture of local music making, eliciting the verve and excitement that defined the Emerald City's pre-grunge music scene.

The storied band opened for The Kinks and toured nationally with Heart and The Knack. Hit songs including “I Don’t Like Your Face” fueled tens of thousands of record sales. A few years later, John Borack of Goldmine Magazine named Have an Idea (Albatross Records, December 1980) one of power pop's top 50 albums.

The Heats reunited in 2023, playing informally with friends and returning to Seattle's legendary Central Saloon in August of that year. Soon after, co-founders Steve Pearson (songwriting, guitar, lead vocals), Keith Lilly (bass guitar) and Kenny Deans (drums) welcomed Jon Memolo (songwriting, guitar, lead vocals) to the band.

Released in November 2024, The Heats' sophomore, self-titled album features nine all-new songs and the first studio recording of “She Belongs To Me.” The highly praised album unleashes the unique sound and power-pop spirit that launched the band to overnight success decades earlier.

The Heats have headlined nine shows in the Puget Sound region since reuniting and are returning to the stage in August 2026 with more new songs.
